WINNERS OF THE AWARDS FOR CREATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS ESSL ART AWARD CEE 2015
On 28.05.2015, the announcement of the winners of the ESSL ART AWARD CEE 2015, awards for creative achievement organized with the support of the main shareholder of VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP, took place at the Academia Gallery in the National Academy of Art in Sofia, during the Nominees’ Night and the opening of the exhibition of the artists nominated for the award in Bulgaria.
The ESSL ART AWARD CEE recognizes the artistic achievements of young artists at the outset of their careers and is held in eight countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Initiated in 2005, the award is conferred every two years by the Essl Museum in Austria and the main sponsor, Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, majority shareholder of VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP. In each country the winners are announced at the Nominees’ Night which showcases the work of ten young artists selected by an international jury.
“Art and especially the support for artists are deeply rooted in the philosophy of Vienna Insurance Group, of which BULSTRAD VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP and BULSTRAD LIFE VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP are members. We are aware that a rich cultural life is important for the sustainable development of a society, just as much as the dedication to social concerns. This is why the Group, an insurance market leader in Austria and the CEE region, and the companies of the Group have initiated various cultural and social activities which, we believe, encourage both international dialog and intercultural exchange,” Mr. Ivo Gruev, member of the Management Boards of BULSTRAD VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP and BULSTRAD LIFE VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP, shared with the young artists and numerous guests at the opening.
The Awards for Creative Achievements ESSL ART AWARD CEE 2015 were presented by Ms. Eva Wirlitsch-Essl (Essl Museum) to the winners, Angel Chobanov and Miglena Yoncheva-Nikolova. The award includes a grant of EUR 3,500 and an invitation to take part in the exhibition Diversity of Voices to be held at the Essl Museum in Klosterneuburg near Vienna.
Angel Chobanov was also the recipient of the VIG SPECIAL INVITATION from Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein which was presented to the winner by Ms. Barbara Grötschnig of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein. This invitation comprises an award of EUR 1,000 and an opportunity to present one’s art work at the group show at Vienna Ringturm, the headquarters of VIG Group.
For the first time in Bulgaria the ceremony also included another special award, the Collectors Invitation, with an offer to participate in the group show of awarded artists and to be featured in the exhibition catalogue. The recipient of the award was Kalina Mavrodieva.
The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Roland Hauser, Ambassador of Austria in Bulgaria, members of the international jury and many partners of BULSTRAD VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP and BULSTRAD LIFE VIENNA INSURANCE GROUP.
The exhibition is open every day until 21 June 2015, between 11:00 and 19:00.
